HEARD Melissa Keefe recite the Falmouth Public School Mission and Vision Statement.
Update from Superintendent
HEARD Dr. Duerr report that the District will bring back Falmouth High School Students full time on
May 3, 2021.
MOTION by Melissa Keefe to open Public Hearing for School Choice. SECONDED by Andrea Thorrold. NO
Public Comments on School Choice. MOTION by Melissa Keefe to close the Public Hearing on School
Choice. SECONDED by Natalie Kanellopoulos. Roll Call Vote. UNANIMOUS.
ACT on Revision of 2021-2022 School Calendar
HEARD Dr. Duerr review the revisions to the 2021-2022 school calendar, which include:
 Move the first day of school to September 8, 2021 due to Rosh Hashanah on
September 7, 2021.
 Add June 20, 2022 as Juneteenth, holiday observance, to follow state guidelines.
MOTION by Melissa Keefe to approve the amended calendar for the 2021-2022 school year as presented.
SECONDED by Terri Medeiros. Roll Call Vote. Eight in FAVOR. John Furnari ABSTAINED. MOTION
FIRST Read of 2022-2023 School Calendar
HEARD Dr. Duerr review the proposed 2022-2023 school calendar. DISCUSSION followed.
ACT on MASS Audubon Society for Science Department
MOTION by John Furnari to accept the $1,000 donation from the MASS Audubon Society. SECONDED by
Natalie Kanellopoulos. Roll Call Vote. UNANIMOUS.
DISCUSS Acknowledgement of Wampanoag Tribal Lands
HEARD Kelly Welch explain that a Land Acknowledgement is a formal statement that would be read at the
beginning of each meeting that recognizes that the Indigenous Peoples as traditional stewards of the land.
DISCUSSION followed. It was suggested that someone from the Wampanoag Tribe attend an upcoming
meeting to further discuss. Ms. Welch will extend the invitation.
Committee Member Updates
HEARD Terri Medeiros report that she has been attending the Emerald House Historical Committee. She
would suggest the School Committee extend an invitation to speak at a School Committee meeting early in the
2021-2022 school year.
MOTION by Melissa Keefe to adjourn. SECONDED by Lisa Hart. Roll Call Vote. UNANIMOUS.
