Upcoming District Events

March 8, 2024

Dear Staff and Families,

March has arrived and that means Spring is right around the corner.  I wanted to share some upcoming events happening in our schools.

Clippers Learn about the Eclipse! In just a few weeks, on Monday, April 8, 2024, Falmouth will experience a partial eclipse. This is a particularly unique eclipse as the moon’s movement between the Earth and Sun will block approximately 90% of the sun’s light in Falmouth and create a large shadow. This eclipse will begin around 2:16 pm and continue until 4:39 pm with the maximum eclipse effect occurring at 3:30 pm. Special thanks to Chris Brothers, our Science Department Head, and the team of Science Teachers at Lawrence, who have secured grant funding to provide eclipse glasses for all Clippers – students and staff – along with materials to teach about the eclipse and ways to safely view the event. Students will receive their glasses and have opportunities to practice wearing them to be sure they are ready for the big day – and that they know not to look directly at the sun. We are working hard to be sure all Clippers can take advantage of this opportunity as they will not have another like it for quite a while. A maximum of five solar eclipses can occur per year on Earth, and a given location will only have a total solar eclipse once every 375-1000 years. The next total eclipse in the US will not be until 2044! On April 8, we will ask students to observe what happens to the weather, listen and look for changes in how animals act, and take pictures. I’m sure it will be a wonderful conversation at school the next day!

Kindergarten Registration. The next kindergarten registration week is from March 18 - 22. You may register anytime during the day or during the evening hours on Thursday, March 21. To enter kindergarten next fall, your child must be 5 years of age by August 31. We look forward to welcoming our new Clippers! So please be sure to register your child. And please spread the word to your friends and neighbors!

Our next Coffee Hour (scheduled on March 21) has been rescheduled for March 28 from 5:30-6:30 pm at Mullen Hall School. Hope to see you there!

Girls Hockey Team!  Congratulations to our Girls Varsity Hockey Team for your double overtime 4-3 win over Canton at the Bog last night. What an exciting win! Let’s all cheer on our Clippers as they head to the Final 4 on Sunday! Go Clippers!!
