Principal’s News

Hello Teaticket Families,

In just a few short days we will be saying goodbye to another school year! I would like to thank staff, students, and families for a great year.  The teachers have worked hard to support each student in making academic progress developing both their mind and heart. Over the summer I would like to encourage you to enjoy some outdoor fun with your child, family time, and reading every day. You are your child’s first teacher and they will follow your lead so I urge you to lead by example and set expectations that will ensure growth.

As the school year comes to a close we have begun to work on classroom placement for the 2019-2020 school year. This is a very careful and deliberate process which takes into consideration each child’s needs academically and social emotionally. Each class profile reflects our collaborative efforts to ensure that each child is placed appropriately into a balanced classroom. Letters with teacher assignments will be mailed home in August.

The administration and staff thank you for your partnership in supporting your child. Have a wonderful summer vacation, enjoy the time spent with your children, and send them back in September well, happy, and ready to learn! For those heading to Morse Pond next year, we wish them well and are confident that the students have the skills they need to be successful in the 5th grade!

Warm regards,

Sandy Kapsambelis, Interim Principal

Hello families!

It is hard to believe that we are so close to the end of the school year! It has been a wonderful school year and our students have a lot to be proud of, including being Peacebuilders throughout their learning, work with others, and special projects!

Although there are many special events around the end of a school, it can be a stressful time of year as well.  It is hard for some children to say goodbye to their teachers and/or to cope with the many changes in the schedule that come with special activities and transitions to summer programs. Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions or concerns that may come up within the next few weeks. We hope that everyone has a fun and relaxing summer break!

If you have any questions or concerns, you can always reach us at the school.

Art with Mrs. Duffany

The Teaticket Art Show and Ice Cream Social was well attended a few weeks ago. Our new “Art in the Dark” exhibit, funded by the Falmouth Education Foundation, was a huge hit. Thank you Teaticket PTO for supplementing additional black lights to make the display extra bright. Without all of my awesome volunteers this event would not be possible!

All students will be bringing artwork home in the next two weeks in their brown bag portfolios. Take a moment to look through and have a conversation about their artwork. Ask your child: What was your favorite project? What was the most challenging project? Or what medium did the enjoy the most?

There are many opportunities for children to participate in art classes and ceramics this summer. Check out classes offered by the Falmouth Art Center, the Cape Cod Conservatory, Highfield Hall, and Falmouth Academy.

Library and Technology with Mrs. Rodriguez

Please help your child find and return any overdue library books. All library books were due back on May 31. I will be sending Library Bills home the following week to all students who have not returned their books, followed by phone calls home.

Grade 4 students have continued to practice coding, using iPads and the newest Osmo programs: Tangrams, Words, Numbers, and the musical Coding Jam. They have also been programming the new Dash and Dot robots to move and to speak.

Grade 3 students have been coding with the Lego Wedo kits. Grade 2 and 1 students have been introduced to the new Osmo activities and will have more opportunities to use them during the next school year.

Donna Skinner, from the Falmouth Public Library Children’s Room, will be visiting Grades 1-4 in our library on June 4. She will share information about the public library’s Summer Reading Program, which includes fun, free activities and events. Look for the brochures that will be sent home on that day.

Music with Ms. O’Neil

The month of May was wonderful and filled with many great events: our 3rd grade recorder concert, the band and chorus concert, and the Music Memory field trip. We also received a grant from the Woods Hole Foundation for a portable PA system along with wireless microphones which will tremendously help in our effort to share music with others.

Thank you so much for your continued attendance at events this year and your support of the music program here at Teaticket. I can't say it enough - it really takes an entire community to run a music program. I could not be more proud and grateful for the supportive family I have found here.

The world is a better place when we can sing and enjoy music together. Please have a safe and wonderful summer!

Physical Education with Mrs. Shanahan

We have had a great year and the students have learned so much. Students have enjoyed having PE twice a week this year and many students have loved sensory in the morning.

Next year we will continue to build on their skills and incorporate some fitness testing for grades 2-4 district wide. We will be talking more about cardiovascular and muscular strength as well as flexibility. Students will do a pre and post assessment to help them understand the importance of all three fitness components.

I hope you and your families enjoy the summer. If you need help regarding finding camps/ sports camps for your child, please let me know.

If you have any questions regarding Physical Education class please contact me at

Preschool News from Laney Cooke-Johnson- Director of Early Childhood Programs

Dear Families:

We have enjoyed a wonderful year of preschool again this year thanks to your wonderful children. As we say so long to our preschoolers heading to kindergarten, we thank you for sharing them with us over the past year (s). We wish them well as they hop to the next lilly pad.  We are busy preparing for our move to East Falmouth School! Four of our classrooms will be moving back to East Falmouth School. We have had our program there before (and for many years) and look forward to seeing some old friends as well share the hallways at EF once again. Our two TIPP programs will remain at Teaticket and I will be visiting them often. We have enjoyed having all of our classrooms at Teaticket the past two years and want to thank our Teaticket friends for all of their support. We will miss them.

Teacher assignment letters for preschool will be sent home by June 30th. If you do not receive one, please contact me, or my secretary Lucy the last week in August and we will be able to help you. I work the week after school gets out and the week before the teachers return. Emailing is always the best way to reach me as I do not have my phone ext. set up at East Falmouth yet. My office will be located there starting in September. I have listed some important dates below.  I hope you all have a FUN, relaxing summer and are able to create some special memories with your children.  As always, thanks for partnering with us in your child’s education. We enjoy spending time with your children so very much!
