Dear Mullen-Hall Families, 

Welcome back! I hope that you were able to enjoy the break. It was so good to see our Clippers return! It has been a successful first week back! Safety drills are an important part of any school's safety program and are practiced routinely throughout the school year. Drills provide staff and students an opportunity to practice how they would respond to a safety risk inside or outside the building. Families will be notified of drills after they have occurred in the principal’s weekly communication.  However, in the event of a true emergency, families will be notified as soon as the situation safely allows. Thank you for your continued support!

Firing Up Dragons in Grades 2-4 to Learn Math Facts! 

Falmouth is fired up about Dragons and Math Facts!

The new iReady Math curriculum includes a powerful math fact program called Fluency Flight!  Students in grades 2-5 are working hard to earn 4 dragons by completing about 12 minutes of math fact practice four times each week.  Massachusetts students are expected to be comfortable with all addition and subtraction facts up to 20 by the end of Grade 2, and all multiplication and division facts up to 12 x 12 = 144 by the end of Grade 4. Families, you can help!  Ask students their math facts in the car, at the grocery store, or when waiting for an appointment.  Keep a stack of index cards (or flash cards) with the facts ready in a purse, a glove compartment, or near the couch.  For younger students, practice skip counting by 2’s, 5’s, 10’s to 100; then try 3’s, 4’s, etc!  Skip counting helps students recognize common products (answers).


Our Next Belonging Series 

Belonging Series: Adults in the Falmouth Public Schools (parents, guardians, staff) are invited to participate in the district-wide Belonging Series. The second of three “learning together” sessions is coming up: 

  • Tuesday, January 16, 6:30 - 8:30 pm, at the Falmouth Recreation Center, 790 Main Street.

  • Facilitated by Dr. Kalise Wornum. 

  • Participants will explore what it means to “belong,” as well as strategies to foster a greater sense of belonging among everyone in the Falmouth Public Schools.

  • Portuguese interpreters will be available.

Family Grading Advisory

The Falmouth Public Schools is excited to return to our plans to revise our grading practices at the elementary level. We are seeking four representatives from each of our elementary schools to participate in the Family Grading Advisory. The advisory team will meet for (4) 90 minute sessions on the following dates:

  • January 22, 2024

  • February 26, 2024

  • March 11, 2024

  • April 22, 2024

If you are interested in joining this group please contact your building principal by Wednesday, January 10th. If we have more than 4 families volunteer from each school we will choose the first four families that respond. We thank you for your continued support and engagement as we move forward.

Paper order forms have been sent home with students. . .the online order portal is also open and 2023-2024 yearbook pre-orders can be placed starting now, through April 29, 2024. Yearbooks will be distributed to all who order at the beginning of June. Any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out anytime.

ATTENTION 4th grade families: If you have not yet submitted a baby picture of your child and would like to, please email the photo and/or a brief message to If you have already sent in the photo/message, thank you! This section of the yearbook is SO MUCH FUN!!! 

We now have a select amount of tie-dye sweatshirts available for purchase in the "school store" located next to the library.  T-shirts and 1/4 zip blue sweatshirts are also available.  You can purchase items with the QR code when you are in school or at any of our events.

Martha’s Vineyard Banking Report:

Happy New Year to all of our student bankers!  Congratulations to Kindergartener Emily P. for winning the Martha's Vineyard Bank piggy bank this week!  We will raffle off another piggy bank next week and then a $20 gift card to Michaels at the end of the month.  There are 3 more banking Fridays this month, we will see next week!
