The School Committee works to foster communication between students, families, the community, and our schools.
If you have a question, concerns, or suggestion it is best to always start at your school. School staff, example: teachers, guidance counselors, principals will be happy to schedule a meeting with you. All phone calls and emails will be returned in a timely manner.
The School Committee encourages the public’s attendance and participation at its bimonthly meetings and subcommittee meetings. The meeting agendas are posted on the Town of Falmouth website (3) days before the meeting, and hard copies are available at each meeting along with supplemental materials. Copies of meeting minutes are also posted on the Town of Falmouth website once they have been approved and voted on.
School committee meetings are held at the Administration Building unless otherwise noted. As part of our commitment to community engagement, some of our meetings are held at our schools.
Public comment is welcome at the beginning of our meetings and is a standing agenda item. Public comment is limited to approximately two (2) minutes and participants can offer comments, ask questions, provide feedback regarding policies and make requests. Please note the school committee will not engage, act on or have a discussion during public comments; the comments are taken under advisement for follow up. You may also request any of the presentation information from the school committee meetings provided we have your contact information. Examples include: reports made, resources discussed, budget information, and power point presentations.
Individuals who have an area of interest such as music, athletics, or other programs and wish to make or participate in a formal presentation to the school committee are encouraged to work with their school principal who may facilitate a discussion with the Superintendent’s office relative to placing the topic on a future agenda.
Presentation details, dates, and times are finalized a week before the meeting and presentations are generally scheduled in the first 45 minutes.
We welcome community participation!
