Dear Staff and Families,
As I shared with you in my last letter, this is an exciting time for STEAM! Last Saturday, we hosted our 48th annual STEAM Fair at Falmouth High School. The event was a spectacular celebration of students’ curiosity, creativity, and discovery. Elementary teachers and their classes are eligible to win the Founders Awards. This year’s winners were both from Morse Pond School: Ms. Stacy Strong and her Grade 5 class showcased their work with LEGO Robotics, earning the First Place Founders Award, and Mrs. Kristin Tribou and her Grade 6 class showcased their Egg-Stravaganza project, earning the Second Place Founders Award. A press release with all results for our Lawrence and Falmouth High School students will be coming soon!
Also on Saturday, March 21, our NE FIRST Robotics Team, the Regal Seagulls (Team 10254), entered their first regional competition at the University of Rhode Island. The team had an outstanding showing. They were named Alliance 4 captains, placing ahead of both the 3rd and 2nd ranked alliances. Our team left having earned second place in the first event of our second year! Our team was also awarded the Rising All Star Award, an award offered in celebration of their ability to persist through challenges, despite the difficulties of being a young team. Next up - a regional competition at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI)!
Annually, Falmouth High School art students are entered in the Massachusetts Scholastic Art & Writing Competition. Students who earn Gold Key Awards at this level are forwarded on to compete nationally. I am thrilled to announce that senior Rima Petrosyan has been announced as a National Gold Medalist in the 2026 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards! Rima’s sculpture, Crochet Can't Be Machine Knit, features four figures gathered around an original crocheted square. Rima will attend the National Ceremony at Carnegie Hall in NYC in June. Congratulations, Rima.
At this week’s School Committee meeting, members voted to approve continued participation in the School Choice program. We will continue to welcome students from area communities, and applications are now being accepted. You can also learn more by visiting our website.
Lawrence School students welcome you to attend their production of Into the Woods, Jr. The shows will be hosted in the Lawrence School Auditorium. There are two shows on Saturday, March 28, at 2pm and 7pm. And, there is an additional show on Sunday, March 29, at 2 pm. Tickets can be purchased online.
Reminder, there is no school on Friday, April 3.
