Dear Staff and Families,
It has been a phenomenal week of discovery and scientific inquiry in our district! We want to share a wonderful story of student success that highlights the incredible learning happening across our schools, from our elementary classrooms to FHS.
This past Tuesday, Lawrence School buzzed with excitement as 245 seventh and eighth-grade students presented their Science Fair projects. Our students investigated everything from the human ability to recognize artificial intelligence to how pH levels can affect the shape of Boba tea!
We want to extend a shout-out to our dedicated volunteer judges. Having local educators, researchers, scientists, and fair enthusiasts on hand to thoughtfully review each project made the experience deeply rewarding for them and for our students alike. Their willingness to share their expertise and encouragement made a meaningful difference for our students.
The momentum continues this evening at FHS where 27 student scientists present their research to professional judges from the science and research community. The projects at the high school level dive deeply into complex areas of research, with students presenting data and conclusions that rival a graduate-level poster session. Participation in this event is an integral part of becoming a member of the National Science Honor Society as well as having a chance to win further scholarships and awards that total approximately $10,000 dollars donated by our local community.
We are especially proud to announce a historic milestone: two of our students, Kunio Saito and Ethan Parmentier, had their research generously funded by Marjot Grants. This marks the first time in Clipper history that two FHS projects have been chosen for this prestigious $5,000 award in the same academic year!
The most powerful takeaway from this week is seeing how our teaching and learning is strong and connected across all grade levels. While at the Lawrence fair, one of our educators reflected on the students' impressive communication and data literacy skills, sharing that the experience gave a feeling of comfort and warmth to see students shine in this way.
This week’s success is the ultimate testament to our district's educators, students, and all who partner to make opportunities like these possible. Our approach to teaching and learning provides students with opportunities like these to explore topics they are genuinely curious about, which ensure strong outcomes for our Clipper scholars.

- The Fair is followed by the student award ceremony for both the High School and Lawrence School at noon.
At the Fair, we will also be streaming the opening NE-FIRST Robotics Competition at the University of Rhode Island where our FHS/Lawrence Regal Seagull Robotics team will participate in this season’s first district event. The 2026 season, “REBUILT” has our robot shooting balls, flying over speed bumps and climbing ladders. The robotics team has grown significantly since last year, adding 5 new engineering mentors and tripling our student membership. The team has officially dubbed this year’s robot ROAR-E or Rory for short. ROAR-E stands for Round Object Accelerating Robot, Elevator Edition. Good Luck Regal Seagulls, GO GULLS!

Kindergarten Registration for September 2026 is still open. If your child will be 5 years old on or before August 31, 2026, and you live in the Town of Falmouth, please enroll using our online registration form. You will need the child’s birth certificate, proof of residence, and current immunization records. If you need any assistance during the online process, please contact your home school.
