The Falmouth Public Schools science program provides students with a comprehensive hands-on curriculum designed to foster student interest and engagement through inquiry, experimentation, and design. Students develop conceptual understanding, content knowledge, and scientific skills as they advance through our K-12 program aligned to the Massachusetts Science and Technology Curriculum Framework. Each spring the annual Falmouth Public Schools Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) Fair provides our K-12 students with the opportunity to demonstrate their proficiency to the community through integrated research projects. Students who participate in the Science Fair each year have had a history of successfully advancing to the regional and national science fairs.
The curriculum promotes the development of a range of skills, habits of mind, and subject matter knowledge to provide the foundation for further study and career choice. It is organized into four strands that spiral between grades, schools, and courses:
- Earth and Space Science
- Life Science (Biology)
- Physical Sciences (Chemistry and Physics)
- Technology/Engineering
