About the Department

The Falmouth Public Schools science program provides a high-quality, hands-on STEM education that fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and a strong foundation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Aligned with the Massachusetts Science and Technology/Engineering Curriculum Framework, our K-12 curriculum engages students through inquiry, experimentation, analysis and design.

We incorporate Phenomenon-Based Learning (using real-world events and observable phenomena) to spark student inquiry and deepen understanding through scientific investigation. Each spring, the annual Falmouth Public Schools STEAM Fair allows students to showcase their learning through research projects, with many advancing to regional and national competitions.

Structured around four key strands—Earth and Space Science, Life Science (Biology), Physical Sciences (Chemistry and Physics), and Technology/Engineering—our curriculum prepares students for success in college, careers, and active citizenship while inspiring lifelong learning and exploration.
