COVID-19 Exposure and Testing

  • If your child tests positive or has been exposed to a COVID-positive individual, call the district Public Health Nurse at (774) 392-6477 immediately. If you receive positive test results outside of school hours, contact your school principal by email.

    Quarantine

    Self-isolation for COVID-19 positive cases for both staff and students is a minimum of 10 full days.

    People who test positive can resume public activities after 10 full days AND once they have

    • at least 24 hours have passed with no fever (and without taking fever-reducing medications like Tylenol)
    • experienced improvement in other symptoms (for example, their cough has gotten much better)
    • received clearance from public health authority contact tracers

    Repeat testing prior to return is not recommended. Return to school should be based on time and symptom resolution.

    Exposure

    Possible close contacts should not come back to school until they have quarantined for 14 full days, even if they have a negative test result.

    Testing

    If staff or students have any of these symptoms, they must get a test for active COVID-19 infection (PCR/viral test) prior to returning to school; please contact your Primary Physician first for a referral.
