Course Description: This course is open to all string players in grades 9-12. Wind and Percussion players may participate with permission from instructor. Cp2 credit is awarded to enrolled 9th graders.This is a comprehensive course that focuses on orchestral and chamber ensemble literature from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Contemporary time periods. Students perform at school sponsored concerts, events, and during other community functions within the school year. Instrumentalists have the opportunity to participate in district and state music festivals.

Mandatory Performances: (Arrival times are TBD)

• FHS Instrumental Concert: Thursday, December 14 @ 7:00 pm
• All–Band Night: Wednesday, March 14 @ 7:00 pm
• FHS Spring Concert: Thursday, May 17 @ 7:00 pm
• Graduation: Saturday, June 2 @ 10:30 am

Concert Dress: Concert dress is described below. If students are not in concert dress for performances, they will not perform. Minor infractions (wrong color socks, no nylons/tights) will result in loss of credit points.

Men: White dress shirt, black jacket, black pants, black shoes, black socks (higher than ankle), and a tie (either bow tie or long)

Women: Either Black Dress or Black top (at least ¾ sleeves) and pants/skirt, Black Shoes (closed toe), black socks/nylons/tights.
