PeaceBuilders is an anti-violence program approved for the federally funded Safe and Drug Free Schools Act and recognized by the Massachusetts Department of Education. This program was initiated as a result of an anti-bullying survey administered to students in June 2004. Students in grades 5 through 11 participated in the survey. In October 2004, the PeaceBuilders Program was introduced at the Morse Pond School and the Lawrence School. This promising program is dedicated to help reduce bullying, harassment, and violence in our schools and in the community.
This program is in its fourth year at the Lawrence and Morse Pond Schools and has had an impact on bullying behaviors at both schools. It is in its their year at the Elementary Schools and we continue to reinforce the language of the program into the schools to make it common knowledge with all students who attend.
If you would like to learn more about the PeaceBuilders program contact one of the Coordinators in the school your child attends. This information can be obtained at the top of this web page under "Teamleaders." We are very excited about the PeaceBuilders program and look forward to continuing it at all grade levels.
