The Falmouth Kids Global Climate Change Institute is an online learning community designed to bring scientists, students and teachers from around the world together to communicate, collaborate, and contribute towards solutions to global climate change. This project was designed to inspire teachers to empower students to use Web 2.0 tools in contextual learning environments. It is a unique opportunity for teachers and students to communicate and collaborate with a global audience as they study the causes and effects of global climate change.
In the spring of 2007, the district was awarded a $45,000 Commonwealth Information Technology Initiative (CITI) grant that funded a week long summer institute on global climate change for 25 middle school teachers. It was one of four middle school grants awarded in the state by CITI which funds projects that promote 21st century information technology skills through middle school mathematics and science curriculum initiatives.
